Anger Management Therapy Whangarei
Are you looking for anger management therapy in Whangarei?
My name is Celia Hall. I am a qualified counsellor and member of the NZAC. I have a lot of experience in anger management counselling.
There are varying degrees of anger: we can be mildly irritated or in a fully-fledged rage.
Anger is a completely normal and healthy human emotion, until it gets of out control and turns destructive. Anger then has the power to make you feel as though you’re at the mercy of an unpredictable and powerful force or emotion.
Triggers and responses
Anger can be caused by internal events (worrying, brooding) or external events (experiences that trigger angry feelings). The instinctive way to express anger is to respond aggressively. Responding aggressively is physically or/and emotionally abusive (when uncontrolled).
If we suppress the anger, the emotion is being compressed into the body. This is a silently dangerous anger, as over time suppressed anger builds up like a pressure cooker. Unexpressed anger can also lead to passive-aggressive behaviour, such as putting others down, criticizing everyone, making cynical remarks.
So the question is: “How to manage your angry feelings – and at the same time get your needs met without hurting yourself or others?”
Managing your anger
Narrative therapy believes the problem is the problem, not the person. Together we will discover:
- What makes you angry
- Learn skills manage triggers
- Manag angry feelings without hurting yourself or others
By exploring what is beneath this anger, the charge or trigger can be managed with a healthier response.
I would be honored to walk alongside you in this journey.
